Stay informed
On these quiet banks, where the waters of Victoria and Biddulph flow in gentle rhythm, we of the Angling Society pause to reflect on the profound cost of the peace we cherish. We remember those members—our friends, our colleagues, and fellow anglers—who traded their rods for rifles, leaving the serenity of this place to answer the call of duty. Their sacrifice secured not just a nation's future, but the very freedom we exercise in every quiet cast and shared moment of companionship by the water's edge. This tranquility is a hard-won legacy, and we commit ourselves to keeping their names and their bravery alive in the heart of our community. Lest we forget the debt we owe to the fallen, may the reflection in the water always serve as a mirror to their enduring honour.

Important rule updates
Victoria and Biddulph Angling Society: Important Rule Updates.
Please take note of the following important updates to the Society's rules, which are effective immediately:
Junior Member Supervision
A significant change has been made regarding the supervision of our younger members:
- All Junior Members must now be accompanied by an adult member while fishing on Society waters.
- The accompanying adult member will be held fully responsible for the junior member at all times.
Serpentine Fishery Season
The season for the Serpentine Fishery (the Serp) has been adjusted and clarified:
- The coarse fish season now starts on June 15th and runs until May 1st of the following year.
- This schedule aligns with the necessary close season to protect spawning fish, providing a slight extension to the end of the fishing period.
Note: The specific rules for the Serpentine Fishery are published in detail within your fishing permits.
Rod Limits
To ensure fair and responsible angling across our waters, a clear rule has been established for rod usage:
- A maximum of two rods are permitted for use.
- The two-rod limit applies to all Society waters and rods must be deployed from a recognised fishing peg.
- This rule does not apply to the Serpentine Fishery, where different rules (as published in your permit) apply.

Member conduct and enforcement
The Committee wishes to make it perfectly clear that the Society will be taking a zero-tolerance approach to members who show a flagrant disregard for our rules.
We must protect our fellow members and the bailiffs and volunteers who run our organisation. Therefore, strict action will be taken against the following offenses:
- Littering: Leaving any form of rubbish on Society property.
- Aggression: Any aggressive or abusive behaviour towards bailiffs or other members.
- Substance Misuse: The use of alcohol or illegal drugs on Society waters.
- Unauthorised Camping/Presence: Allowing non-fishing individuals (e.g., friends or family clearly camping out) to remain on the bank with you. Anyone on the bank must be there for the purpose of fishing or supporting a junior member.
Ignorance of the rules is not an acceptable plea. We strongly urge all members to be responsible and read the small print in your permits. By renewing your membership, you agree to abide by these regulations.
We thank you all for your cooperation and wish you Tight Lines!
